Nev. Judge Denies Wyeth New Trial After $134 Million HRT Verdict

RENO, Nev. - A Nevada judge has refused to grant Wyeth a new trial after a jury awarded $134 million to three women who claim their breast cancer was caused by Wyeth's Prempro and Premarin hormone replacement drugs. Washoe County District Court Judge Robert Perry on Feb . 6 rejected Wyeth's assertions that it is entitled to a new trial because the jury mistakenly considered punitive damages in the initial phase of the verdict, which was to include only compensatory damages.
