LAFAYETTE, La. - AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals moved for summary judgment in a Seroquel personal injury case on Aug. 23, asserting that plaintiffs failed to demonstrate that a child's use of the atypical antipsychotic medication caused the child to develop Type I diabetes. Balser, et al. v. AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals, No. 04-2070 (E.D. La.).

AstraZeneca asked the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana to dismiss claims brought by Alice Balser on behalf of minor plaintiff Nicole Richards on July 22, 2004.
