BEAUMONT, Texas - A woman awarded $1.36 million by a Jefferson County jury for heart damage sustained as a result of using the drug combination Fen-phen moved to reduce the amount by more than half. Deborah Hayes v. Wyeth, No. B-165,374 (Texas Dist. Ct., Jefferson Cty., 60th Judicial Dist.).
Plaintiff Deborah Hayes' Dec. 8 motion for entry of final judgment requested that the sum be reduced to $588, 480 because the damages awarded by the jury for future medical care exceeded the amount supported by the evidence.
