Article: Use of Thiazolidinediones and Risk of Heart Failure in People with Type 2 Diabetes

Summary: A retrospective cohort study that compared the incidence of heart failure in individuals with type 2 diabetes receiving thiazolidinediones versus other oral antihyperglycemic agents. Participants were identified through a search of an insurance claims database between 1995 and 2001. Patients with any claims for thiazolidinediones were designated "exposed" and each was compared with five randomly selected unexposed patients.
