SAN DIEGO — A California woman has filed a second amended complaint against Howmedica Osteonics Corp. in federal court, alleging the company negligently designed and manufactured its Restoration and Accolade hip replacement devices, and did not adequately warn of the risks when the devices are used together.

Plaintiff Tobi Herbert filed the amended pleading on March 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, asserting claims of negligence and strict liability.
