DePuy Opposes Efforts by ASR Hip System Plaintiffs to Consolidate Cases for Trial

SAN FRANCISCO –– DePuy Orthopaedics Inc. has opposed efforts by ASR Hip System plaintiffs to consolidate their cases for trial, saying the plaintiffs have vastly different medical histories and were implanted with the device by different surgeons in different hospitals.
In the brief, filed Nov. 29 in the California Superior Court for San Francisco County, DePuy argued that multi-plaintiff trials are not appropriate for these actions since “the specific individual differences overwhelmingly predominate over any perceived common issues that might exist.”
