S.C. Federal Judge Rejects Plaintiff’s Prejudice Argument in Staying DePuy ASR Hip Case

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A federal judge in South Carolina has rejected a hip implant plaintiff’s contention that she will be unfairly prejudiced by unnecessary additional expenses if her case remains in federal court and has granted DePuy Orthopaedics Inc.’s (NYSE: JNJ) motion for a stay pending transfer to the federal DePuy ASR MDL in Ohio.

In granting DePuy’s motion for a stay Dec. 17, U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Anderson Jr. declined to rule on Teresa S. Murphy-Pittman’s motion for remand to state court.
