Suit Filed in S.C. Says Simponi Causes Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Two South Carolina men have sued Janssen Biotech Inc. and Johnson and Johnson Services Inc. (NYSE: J&J), accusing them of failing to warn doctors and the public that the rheumatoid arthritis drug Simponi (golimumab) can cause cancer.

The complaint, filed in the South Carolina Court of Common Pleas, Pickens County, says the drug maker defendants knew the drug was unsafe, defective and unreasonably dangerous, yet failed to issue proper warnings and conduct adequate testing.

Plaintiffs Jimmy Watson and Scott Emory are the personal representatives of the estate of Ralph Watson Jr. According to the complaint, Ralph began …
