Puerto Rico Judge Upholds $1.5 Million Prempro Verdict

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - A Puerto Rico federal judge has upheld a $1.5 million verdict rendered in favor of a Prempro plaintiff, ruling that the evidence presented supported the jury's finding that Prempro played a role in Helen Rivera-Adam's breast cancer. Rivera-Adams v. Wyeth, No. 03-1713 (D. Puerto Rico).

On Feb. 4, Chief Judge Jose A. Fueste of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico denied Wyeth's motions for judgment as a matter of law or a new trial, explaining that the jury's findings "must be respected."
