Judge Dismisses Health Fund's Seroquel Marketing Suit Against AstraZeneca

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A suit brought by a Pennsylvania employee health fund accusing AstraZeneca of fraudulently marketing its antipsychotic drug Seroquel has been dismissed by a Florida federal judge for failure to state a claim. Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust v. AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals LP, No. 09-5003 (M.D. Fla.).

On July 20, Judge Anne C. Conway of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida ruled that the allegations that the drug maker's marketing practices had a severe economic impact upon the fund were vague and unsupported by facts.
