ATLANTA - A federal appeals court has affirmed a decision to exclude testimony from a plaintiff's expert who concluded that Remicade can cause pulmonary fibrosis. Goldstein v. Centocor Inc., No. 07-13191 (11th Cir.).

The 11th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruled Feb. 5 that the late Dr. Douglas Pohl's testimony linking the rheumatoid arthritis drug to lung disease failed to have adequate support from scientific study and, therefore, could not meet Daubert standards.

Dr. Pohl offered the general causation testimony in a case brought by Jeffrey Goldstein against Remicade manufacturer Centocor Inc., who Goldstein blamed for causing his pulmonary fibrosis.
