Fla. Judge Stays Camp Lejeune Case in Wake of Motion to Create MDL

MIAMI -- A Florida case involving the claims of a discharged U.S. Marine who says that he was exposed to contaminated water while on active duty at Camp Lejeune has been stayed pending the outcome of a motion to create an MDL. Perez, et al. v. The United States of America, No. 09-22201 (S.D. Fla.).
On Dec. 13, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida granted a joint motion to stay the proceedings, in which the court cited the pending motion with the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation. For now, the stay order effectively precludes the …
