MDL Docket Sought for Eyewear Antitrust Actions Against EssilorLuxottica, Others

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation has been asked to create an MDL docket for lawsuits accusing eyewear conglomerate EssilorLuxottica and several other subsidiaries, manufacturers, retailers and fashion houses of conspiring to artificially inflate the price of eyewear products by as much as 1000 percent.

In a Nov. 1 motion, certain of the defendants, including Essilor Luxottica, Costa del Mar Inc., Frames for America Inc. and Oakley Inc., say the four related antitrust actions are all based on the same alleged underlying conduct related to the manufacture and sale of sunglasses and prescription glasses.
