ST. LOUIS –– A Missouri federal court has granted an emergency motion to remand a multi-plaintiff talcum powder suit scheduled for trial in state court next week, ruling that recent statements by the trial court regarding the plan to try claims individually do not constitute “other paper,” as required to permit removal.

In the two-page order issued Sept. 21, Judge Jean C. Hamilton of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri further determined that the defendants failed to introduce evidence of bad faith on the part of the plaintiffs that would have permitted removal more than one …
