ST. LOUIS –– Johnson & Johnson defendants have removed a number of talcum powder lawsuits recently, arguing that federal courts in Louisiana, Ohio, Florida and Missouri have jurisdiction over the personal injury claims.

On Sept. 9, the defendants removed the Kehres complaint to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, citing diversity jurisdiction.

The Kehres plaintiffs asserted the claims on behalf of Kathryn Kehres, contending that she developed ovarian cancer as a result of using Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Powder and Shower-to-Shower.
