Class Action Complaint Says Lumber Liquidators Misrepresented Formaldehyde Risks in Chinese Flooring Products

SAN JOSE, Calif. — Six individuals have filed a proposed class action complaint in California federal court against Lumber Liquidators Inc., accusing the company of misrepresenting that its Chinese composite laminate flooring products meet state emissions standards.

In a March 31 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of California, the plaintiffs allege that the flooring products emit formaldehyde at levels known to pose serious health risks.

Plaintiffs Lila Washington, Laura Washington, Ryan and Kristin Brandt, and Kenneth and Casandra Barrett, assert that the formaldehyde emissions from certain of the defendant’s products far exceed the maximums …
