CHICAGO - A reinsurer on March 18 asked an Illinois federal judge to stay a $1.7 million dispute over whether its commutation agreement with two CNA companies includes certain reinsurance contracts issued by Allstate Insurance Co. and Unity Fire and General Insurance Co. Continental Casualty Co., et al. v. Commercial Risk Re-Insurance Co., No. 1:07-cv-06912, N.D. Ill.).

SCOR sought the stay on Feb. 29 in light of arbitration initiated by two CNA subsidiaries on Dec. 28, which SCOR says involves the same Unity Fire business at issue in the pending litigation. SCOR has appointed an arbitrator and advised that it …
