Electric Component Manufacturer Sues Factory Mutual for COVID-19 Coverage

HARTFORD, Conn. — A manufacturer of electronic components has sued Factory Mutual Insurance Co., demanding coverage for millions of dollars in COVID-19 losses and expenses, arguing that the virus and its threat have caused the company to sustain insured losses.

In a Jan. 21 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut, Amphenol Corp. says its losses are covered under the Factory Mutual policy’s provisions for property loss or damage and time-element losses caused by the actual on-site presence of “Communicable Diseases” such as COVID-19.
