Trial Date Set for May in Mass. Federal Reinsurance Billings Action

BOSTON — A Massachusetts federal judge has set May 21 as the trial date for a dispute between Lamorak Insurance Co. and Certain London Market Reinsurers over Lamorak’s allocation of reinsurance billings for a 2009 settlement of underlying pollution claims.

In a Nov. 24 order, Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts granted the parties’ joint request to extend the remaining deadlines.

Lamorak issued three umbrella policies to chemical manufacturer Olin Corp. in the 1970s. LMR reinsured Lamorak’s risk under three facultative contracts.
