Footwear Wholesaler Sues Chubb, Subsidiary for COVID-19 Business Interruption Coverage

NEW YORK — A footwear wholesaler has sued ACE Property and Casualty Insurance Co. and its parent company Chubb Limited in an effort to recoup losses the company sustained when it was forced to close its showrooms as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and related civil authority orders.

In an Oct. 16 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, United Footwear Group LLC contends that it suffered “direct physical loss of or damage to property” as defined by the policy.
