Fla. Gym Sues Insurer for Breach of Contract in COVID-19 Coverage Battle

TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida gym has sued Vantapro Specialty Insurance Co. in an effort to recoup business interruption losses it sustained when it was forced to temporarily close in compliance with government COVID-19 “stay at home” orders.

In a complaint removed to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida on Oct. 9, Gym SRQ LLC contends that coverage is available under its policy’s Business Income (and Extra Expense) and Civil Authority provisions.
