LOS ANGELES — A California university has sued sportswear company Under Armour Inc. in federal court, accusing of breaching a 15-year sponsorship agreement by pulling out of the deal after only three years by using the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse for its long-failing financial condition.

In an Aug. 26 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, The Regents of the University of California’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics on its Los Angeles Campus (UCLA) also accuses Under Armour of breaching the contract by hiding its poor financial health from the university.
