N.Y. Federal Judge Denies Stay Pending Insurer’s Arbitration-Related Appeal

NEW YORK — A New York federal judge has refused to stay pending appeal his ruling that an arbitration panel has jurisdiction to hear a reinsurance billing dispute, holding that the appealing party has failed to show that it is likely to succeed on the merits.

On Nov. 14, Judge J. Paul Oetken of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York further held that Chicago Insurance Co. will not be irreparably harmed by having to expend time and money to litigate before the arbitration panel.
