HARTFORD, Conn. — Arbitrators, not the court, should decide whether disputes arising from multiple reinsurance contracts issued by Employers Insurance Company of Wausau to The Hartford and its affiliates should be consolidated into one arbitration, a Connecticut judge has ruled.

In a Feb. 13 order, Judge Robert Shapiro of the Hartford Superior Court ordered Employers Insurance Company of Wausau to appoint an arbitrator and proceed with forming a panel.

Employers Insurance Company of Wausau and Hartford entered into a Non-Obligatory Casualty Excess of Loss Reinsurance Agreement (Treaty 2736), which was in effect from Jan. 1, 1983, to Dec. 31, 1983. …
