MIAMI — A Florida federal judge has refused to dismiss claims of unjust enrichment and tortious interference brought against QBE Specialty Insurance Co. and its affiliate, Sterling National Insurance Agency, in a suit accusing them of receiving kickbacks for force-placed mortgage insurance.

On March 28, Judge James I. Cohn of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida found the plaintiffs sufficiently alleged that they conferred a direct benefit on the QBE defendants and that those defendants interfered with plaintiffs’ borrower-lender relationship with SunTrust Mortgage Inc.
