Global Asserts Amerisure Not Entitled to $50,000 in Attorney’s Fees for Alleged Bad Faith

CHICAGO — Global Reinsurance Company of America is contesting a cedent’s action seeking more than $50,000 in attorney’s fees for Global’s alleged bad faith denial of reinsurance coverage, asserting it had “valid and legitimate” reasons for denying payment.

In its answer to an amended complaint filed by Amerisure Mutual Insurance Co., Global also argues that the dispute must be arbitrated and that no arbitration panel may award attorney’s fees under the Illinois Insurance Code.
