Ariz. Federal Judge Stays Repwest’s Claims Against Aon Pending Related Arbitration

PHOENIX — An Arizona federal judge has stayed claims filed by Repwest Insurance Co. against reinsurance broker Aon Benfield Inc. (NYSE:AON) pending the outcome of a related arbitration between the parties.

In the March 4 order, Judge James A. Teilborg of the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona noted both parties agreed to the stay.

In 1991, Repwest entered into an excess workers' compensation quota share contract with reinsurers Praetorian and Conestoga Insurance Co. Repwest also entered into an aggregate excess of loss reinsurance contract, under which Repwest and Conestoga were the cedents and Praetorian was the reinsurer. …
