CLEVELAND - Five Lloyd's of London syndicates have asked an Ohio federal court to rule that they are not liable to Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Co. for $1.2 million under a purported 2004 reinsurance contract. Certain Underwriters at Lloyd's London v. Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Co., No. 12-160 (S.D. Ohio).

In a Feb. 22 complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the syndicates assert that they are not involved in a separate reinsurance case pending in Florida between other Lloyd's syndicates and Stonebridge and that case involves a reinsurance contract allegedly issued in 2006, not 2004.
