Folksamerica Sues Ecuadorian Construction Company for $51,783

MIAMI - Folksamerica Reinsurance Co. has sued an Ecuadorian construction company and its president for $51,783 in indemnification allegedly owed under a bond reinsurance contract. Folksamerica Reinsurance Co. v. Constructora Del Litoral S.A., et al., No. 10-20560 (S.D. Fla.).

The suit, originally filed in the Miami-Dade County Circuit Court, was removed by the defendants to federal court on Feb. 23.

According to the suit, Global Reinsurance Brokers Inc. contacted Folksamerica (now known as White Mountains Reinsurance Company of America) in early 2002 regarding coverage of a bid bond and other contractual surety bonds issued by Seguros Oriente S.A. for …
