Court Awards Summary Judgment to Defendants, Says Product ID Lacking

LOS ANGELES -- A California court has awarded summary judgment to a benzene defendant, finding that plaintiffs' documentary evidence was inadmissible hearsay. Tan, et al. v. Soco-Western Chemical Corp., et al., BC 288085, Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.

In the Dec. 28 order, the Los Angeles Superior Court also found that the plaintiff presented insufficient evidence that the decedent was exposed to Romic Chemical's lacquer thinner, sources told HarrisMartin. In the same order, the court also granted a motion made by 3M Co. for summary judgment, saying the plaintiff had failed to show exposure to 3M's Scotch Grip 1300 …
