BOSTON –– A Massachusetts federal court has entered an order dismissing a benzene case brought by a former auto mechanic in the wake of the plaintiff’s settlement agreement with the lone remaining defendant.

The U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts issued the one-page order dismissing the case on June 20.

Plaintiff Ralph Girardi contended in his complaint that his work as an auto mechanic for approximately 40 years required him to handle benzene-containing products, including brake cleaners, carburetor cleaners, parts cleaners, penetrating oils and other automotive cleaning solvents.
