HOUSTON -- The remaining parties in a benzene-related Jones Act complaint have reached a settlement agreement, according to documents filed recently in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas. Davis, et al. v. Shell Oil Co., et al., No. 09-384 (S.D. Texas).

In an April 2 conditional dismissal order, the court noted that it had been advised that a settlement had been reached and, as such, the case was dismissed without prejudice. In the event that the settlement can't be completely documented, the claims can be reinstated, the court noted.
