Former Owner of Turf Installation Business Files Roundup Lawsuit Against Monsanto

SAN DIEGO –– The former owner of a turf installation business has filed a lawsuit against Monsanto, contending that his use of the company’s Roundup herbicide led him to develop cancer.

In the Oct. 9 complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, the plaintiff said that the defendant has known of the association between glyphosate –– the active ingredient in Roundup –– and cancer since the 1980s.

Plaintiff Emanuel Richard Giglio filed the complaint, contending that while he owned and operated a turf installation business, he regularly sprayed Roundup.
