Puerto Rico Court Pushes Benzene Trial Back to January in Light of Defendant’s Conflict

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico –– A Puerto Rican federal court has continued a benzene trial to its January calendar shortly after the lone remaining defendant in the case asked the court to reconsider its trial setting.

In a Sept. 25 motion, Safety-Kleen Systems Inc. asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico to reconsider a Nov. 9 trial setting, saying that the proposed Nov. 2 date had provided enough time for the case to be tried before the Thanksgiving holiday.
