NEW ORLEANS –– Parties involved in a benzene lawsuit involving exposure at a Shell facility have reached a settlement agreement, less than nine months after the complaint was filed.

According to an order of dismissal entered on Aug. 24 by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the parties “firmly agreed upon a compromise.”

The plaintiffs alleged that Dennis Matherne worked as a pipefitter for Turner Industries for 14 years at the Shell Oil and Shell Chemical in Norco and ConocoPhillips at the Alliance Refinery in Belle Chasse, La.
