Philadelphia Court Refuses to Allow Benzene Plaintiffs to File Settlement Approval Documents Under Seal

PHILADELPHIA –– A Philadelphia trial court has refused to allow parties that recently reached a settlement agreement in a benzene case to file the related approval documents under seal, according to a recent order.

The Aug. 11 order from the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County denying the motion did not give a reason for its decision.

The remaining parties in the benzene case reached a settlement agreement in April, just weeks before a scheduled trial date.
