Parties Reach Settlement in Philadelphia Benzene Case

PHILADELPHIA –– Benzene plaintiffs and defendants Sunoco Inc. and The Pep Boys –– Manny, Moe & Jack have reached a settlement agreement for claims arising out of benzene exposure that allegedly occurred during maintenance work.

The settlement agreement was noted in a letter filed Oct. 11 with the Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County. Trial had been scheduled to begin Oct. 15, according to past court documents.

The plaintiffs contend that Robert Lukatz was exposed to benzene-containing products while working as a maintenance man and operator at a number of locations throughout Ohio and Florida. Lukatz specifically …
