Exxon, Shell File Move for Genetic Testing of Plaintiff’s Tissue and Blood

GRETNA, La. –– Defendants Exxon Mobil Corp. and Shell Oil Co. are seeking access to a plaintiff’s tissue and blood, saying that genetic testing will indicate whether the plaintiff has an “inherited propensity or susceptibility” to develop his cancer.

In the Aug. 28 motion filed in Louisiana’s 24th Judicial District Court for Jefferson Parish, Exxon Mobil Corp. and Shell Oil Co. seek testing of the plaintiff’s tissue and blood, specifically from the plaintiff’s kidney, adrenal gland and lymph nodes.
