Benzene Defendant Seeks to Re-Open Case, Seeks Reimbursement from Co-Defendant

NEW ORLEANS –– A benzene defendant has asked a Louisiana court to re-open a recently dismissed case, saying that it intends to file cross-claims against a co-defendant in the action.

On Aug. 14, Settoon Towing LLC asked the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana to re-open the proceedings, saying that Cenac Towing has “refused to fully reimburse Settoon Towing for its one-half share of all maintenance and cure.”

On Aug. 12, the District Court had entered an order of dismissal, saying that the parties had firmly agreed upon a compromise.
