Louisiana Court Orders Chevron and Oil Insurance to Resubmit Witness List in Benzene Case

NEW ORLEANS –– A Louisiana federal court has asked Chevron USA Inc. (NYSE:CVX) and Oil Insurance Ltd. to resubmit a witness list, opining that it cannot rule on a recent plaintiff motion to strike the witnesses due to the “lack of information as to the subjects on which they will testify.”

In the Feb. 27 order, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana additionally asked the defendants to specify 15 witnesses from a group of 66 that was the focus of the plaintiffs’ motion to strike.

The underlying claims were filed by Hollis and Edna Faye Boutain. …
