Chevron Seeks Sanctions Against Plaintiffs for Rule 11 Violation

NEW ORLEANS - Chevron U.S.A. Inc. has asked a federal judge to impose sanctions against the plaintiffs in a benzene exposure case, arguing that their motion to strike Chevron's defenses "is wrought with blatant fallacies, which are intentionally misleading to this court." Morin, et al. v. Chevron U.S.A. Inc., et al., No. 11-45 (E.D. La.).

In a March 9 motion, Chevron asserts that plaintiffs' Feb. 6 motion violates Federal Rule of Procedure 11 because it contains inaccurate statements that "are a direct attack on the integrity and ethics" of Chevron's attorneys.
