BP Dismissed from Benzene Lawsuit, Owned Refinery After Plaintiffs' Employment

NEW ORLEANS -- A Louisiana federal court has granted plaintiffs' motion to dismiss BP Products from a benzene case, after they acknowledged that the company was not the owner or operator of the worksite during the years in question. Morin, et al. v. Chevron USA Inc., et al., No. 11-00045 (E.D. La.).

On Aug. 24, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana entered a one-page order dismissing BP Products (North America) without prejudice.
