Parties in Louisiana Benzene Case Reach Settlement Agreement on Eve of Trial

NEW ORLEANS -- The parties remaining in a benzene case involving gasoline exposure have reached a settlement agreement on the eve of trial, according to court documents. Sanderson, et al. v. Shell Oil Co., et al., No. 09-7336 (E.D. La).

According to a notice filed Oct. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the parties notified the court that settlement negotiations were successful and that an agreement had been reached. Subsequently, on Oct. 27, the court entered an order of dismissal, allowing the parties 60 to reopen the action if settlement is not consummated.
