Lung Cancer Trial Ends in $21 Million Verdict in California

LOS ANGELES -- A California jury yesterday awarded $21 million to a former U.S. Naval worker who claimed that his lung cancer, pleural plaques and asbestosis were caused by exposure to asbestos in valves. Walton, et al. v. William Powell Co., et al., No. BC361382 (Calif. Super. Ct., Los Angeles Cty.).
The Los Angeles Superior County Court jury reached the $21,050,000 verdict March 5 following a trial presided over by Judge Ralph Dau.
