Ky. Jury Says Garlock Products Responsible for Man's Asbestosis

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- A Kentucky jury has found for an asbestosis plaintiff, determining that Garlock's gasket and packing products were a substantial contributing factor in causing the plaintiff's alleged injury. Clephas, et al. v. Garlock Inc., No. 93-CI-05779 (Ky. Cir. Ct., Jefferson Cty.).
On Nov. 28, the Kentucky Circuit Court for Jefferson County entered the judgment of $150,125 against Garlock.
The jury reached the verdict on Nov. 20, determining that the defendant was responsible for the plaintiff's asbestosis.
Charles Clephas contended that his asbestosis was caused by exposure to Garlock products.
