Texas Supreme Court Denies Petition in Chrysotile Dispute

AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Supreme Court has denied a petition for writ of mandamus that had sought the reversal of a lower court's determination that plaintiffs had provided sufficient evidence to support claims that chrysotile fibers can cause asbestos-related diseases. In re: Garlock Sealing Technologies and Georgia-Pacific Corp., No. 06-0881 (Texas Sup. Ct.).

On Oct. 12, the high court denied the petition without an opinion, ending Garlock Sealing Technologies and Georgia-Pacific Corp.'s attempts to reverse the ruling.
