ATLANTA -- Georgia-Pacific has filed a brief in Georgia's Supreme Court in a dispute over retroactivity of the state's asbestos and silica legislation, saying that it was the General Assembly's 'express intent to have the statute apply to pending cases.' Georgia-Pacific Corp., et al. v. Jimmie Sanford Mitchell, et al., No. S06A1219 (Ga. Sup. Ct.).
The April 17 filing in the Georgia Supreme Court seeks the reversal of six interlocutory orders that found the a section of the state's asbestos and silica legislation unconstitutional.
