NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- A Virginia delegate who introduced a piece of legislation governing asbestos claims has pulled the bill after receiving strong opposition from plaintiffs and their counsel.

Delegate William H. Fralin Jr. (R-House District 17) introduced the bill on Jan. 11 but pulled it from the Virginia General Assembly on Feb. 6.

Fralin said the bill had the support of several manufacturers' associations and was aimed at saving payout for the plaintiffs who exhibit the most severe injuries.
