Jurors Find for Four Asbestos Defendants in Pleural Thickening Case




PHILADELPHIA -- A jury has entered a verdict in favor of four asbestos defendants, finding that the companies are not liable for a plaintiff's pleural thickening and restricted breathing. Scott, et al. v. Bell Asbestos Mines, March 2003, No. 1914 (Pa. Ct. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).

The Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas for Philadelphia County jury entered the verdict on Feb. 9 after a trial overseen by Judge Matthew Carrafiello. The case was tried with Swaringen (February Term 2003, No. 1667), which also ended in a defense verdict. See related story in this issue.
