Asbestos Case Resolved After $20.5 Million Damages Verdict

PHILADELPHIA - Parties in an asbestos case involving a 53-year-old plaintiff who developed mesothelioma allegedly from exposure to asbestos at a Certainteed dump site have settled following the damages phase of a reverse-bifurcated trial. Amento v. Certainteed, et al., No. 030400681 (Pa. Comm. Pls., Philadelphia Cty.).
The case settled Feb. 13, prior to the liability phase and one week after jurors had awarded close to $20.5 million to the plaintiff's surviving family members, a source told HarrisMartin Publishing. Parties involved in the case refused comment on the award, citing a confidentiality order entered in the case.
